Norwegian Americana songstress Malin Pettersen has been a staple of the Norwegian country scene for a little over a decade now. She rose into success nationally and internationally with her band Lucky Lips, which she founded in 2009. After three well received full-lengths and a slot at AmericanaFest with Lucky Lips, Pettersen made the decision to venture into a solo career.
Her first solo album, “References Pt. 1”, released in 2018, received widespread praise and saw her winning the Norwegian Spellemann Award. Drawn to the Nashville music scene, Pettersen would frequently travel to the US, the pilgrimages eventually lead to the creation of her 2019 mini-album, “Alonesome”. “Alonesome” depicted a much more tender side of Pettersen’s music, driven by her beautiful vocals and softly strummed guitar.
Her new album, Wildhorse, due out on Oct. 16, kicks off an exciting new chapter for Pettersen. Recorded in Nashville’s Music City U.S.A., Pettersen recruited an all-star lineup of musicians including Aaron Goodrich (Colter Wall), Misa Arriaga (Kacey Musgraves, Lillie Mae), Ryan A. Keith (Rayland Baxter), and Eddy Dunlap (Luke Bryan, the Grand Ole Opry house band), with additional contributions from Logan Ledger, Dennis Crouch, Ben Sanders, Mike Eli, and Emily Keith.
